Shindig! No.69

It's Shindig! No.69, with the beautiful third and final part of Kris Needs' Hendrix opus, and an in-depth look at Peter Whitehead's Tonite Lets All Make Love in London, which is soon to be issued on Blu-Ray and which I haven't seen since a BFI screening many years ago. Exciting. Much more of course, including me chatting to designer Ollie Alpert about her multi-dimensional work. Get it!

The Unseen Juicy Lucy

Here's a real treat for Vertigo collectors, record cover enthusiasts and greengrocers. If you've read my column in this month's Shindig! you'll know all about hard rockers Juicy Lucy, the mysterious Zelda Plum, and photographer Peter Smith. Peter was kind enough to share with us this image of the unused (rear) cover he mocked up for their debut LP and which was rejected by Philips. A real bit of history!
Bonus! Here's Zelda Plum in full regalia for the single launch in 1969. Amazing!

Thanks so much for sharing these Peter, and I'd still be really interested to hear from anyone who can add anything to the strange story of Zelda Plum.

Shindig! No.68

Out this very day is Shindig! No.68. More Hendrix, Funkadelic, Patto, PP Arnold... and I investigate another great Peter Smith album cover...
